All dogs need training!  No matter the size, age or breed it is possible to train your dog to obey basic commands of sit, stay, come.  Sometimes we lose patience or skip training sessions, but we are not doing our animals or ourselves a favor by doing this.  It takes time, patience, consistency and love.  If you do not have these to give, then please do not bring a pup or dog into your home.  It is not fair to expect a canine, especially a pup or young dog, to absorb training through osmosis - they are like children, and training takes effort on your part.  You will be glad you took the time and made the effort and your four-legged friend will be, too.

Be aware of the reputation of any trainer you are considering.  There are some who call themselves "trainers" and use methods that will not help your dog or pup, but will actually make behavior worse!  Call a vet or even a rescue group to see if they can recommend a good trainer.
